A couple of weeks ago one of the oven elements decided it was time to pack it in. Because it has been so hot lately there wasn't really a need to run out and fix or replace the stove. For those that have never seen, or can't remember my stove click on the thumbnail below.
Last Friday Mary and I swung by the Canex and picked up a replacement. It was time.. and the new range ROCKS! Click on the thumbnail below to have a look!
It was very, very, VERY hot here today and I managed to get these steps built! Now all I need to do is fix up the sun room so they don't look so out of place.

Meet the rocket propelled chainsaw!

Friday was a pretty good day at work. Well, to start off with.. it was FRIDAY! How bad could the day be if it's followed by a weekend?
Anyways, shortly after I arrived at work I was presented with my promotion to Sergeant! While the promotion itself is not a great big deal, it does have a bit of change attached to it. I will no longer be a Junior NCO so the wet mess I have attended all of my career is no more. Off to the Sgt's and WO's Mess for me. I have heard rumors about the new mess.. so time will tell whether or not they turn out to be true.
Of course the pay raise will be nice. A first year specialist Sergeant makes more than a standard Warrant Officer. It sure won't hurt the coming pension.

Sadly a posting also accompanies the promotion which is taking me out of my current operational flying position and will see me sitting behind a desk in a deputy system administrators job. The new job really interests me a lot and I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead.. but leaving the flying behind (at least for now) is heavy on the heart.
I finally broke down and got my first tattoo. The tattoo was placed on my left forearm and has great personal value.
